Kay Daniels Obituary

01/08/2016

News Photo Kay Daniels, wife of our sales manager, Rodney Daniels went home to be with her Lord this week. Please remember the Daniels family in your prayers. Below is the obituary:

Kay Boring Daniels, received her heavenly wings on January 5, 2016. Kay, daughter of the late; George Wallace and Pearl Lois (nee Johnston) Boring, was born January 28, 1950 in Arcadia, Florida and lived her entire life in the small town that she loved so much. As a young girl, she and her family would spend quality time at “the lakes,” particularly Lake June. After graduating from DeSoto High School with the Class of 1968, she received her business degree from Jones Business College in Orlando. While with friends at the DeSoto County fair in January of 1972 on her birthday, she met and soon fell in love with Rodney E. Daniels. They married December 7, 1974 and began a beautiful life together, as husband and wife they soon became the proud parents of 2 remarkable sons. Kay worked as a DeSoto County’s Deputy Property Appraiser until her retirement in 2011, after twenty five years of employment. Kay always lived life to its fullest and savored the beauty of God’s creations, including the seasonal trips she and Rodney took to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina to enjoy the beautiful changing colors of the leaves or sitting on a Florida beach together, watching the sunsets over the water. Kay really loved spending time in her garden, planting and sowing many plants and flowers. She loved placing her collection of old wooden bird houses in her garden for the all the native song birds she loved, especially the red birds. She also loved antiquing, or “junking” as she often referred to her hobby. Some of Kay’s most notable attributes would be her true love for God as a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arcadia, her family, her country and a true zest for life. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was extremely quick witted, with a smile and laugh that was truly contagious. Her presence among us will be deeply missed.

Kay is survived by her husband of 41 years, Rodney E. Daniels, of Arcadia, Florida, sons; Rodney Daniels, Jr. (Arah), of Arcadia, Florida, Michael Daniels (Carolyn), of Arcadia, Florida, brother, George (Nancy) Boring, Jr., of Brooksville, Florida, sisters; Ann Frier, of Mt. Dora, Florida, Sue (David) Milhausen, of Orlando, Florida and her cherished grandsons; Tristan Daniels, Michael Daniels II, Trenton Daniels and Conor Daniels. And many nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Beverly Johnson.

A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Arcadia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Kay’s name be made to her favorite charities St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, Salvation Army, Wounded Warrior Project or to Tidewell Hospice of Arcadia.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Skyway Memorial Funeral Home, Palmetto, FL. Online condolences can be made at www.skywaymemorial.com
